Talk:Windows
From iA wiki
Please kids, no Winblows bashing. Oh, does anyone have some handy linkage so that we can perhaps talk about the different variations of the Windows' by their codenames? That'd be interesting for historical interest. -- rack
What wiki link could be used for "the alternatives"? - ABliss
Um... I don't think there's a wiki that yet covers that. Definitely needed. "Microsoft Alternatives" ? If you need a name. Include stuff like OpenOffice, StarOffice, Mozilla, all the desktop Linux distros, OS X, etc. -- Webfork
Windows ME was released after Windows 2000 as the home edition version for windows while 2000 was slated for servers and developers. ME was quickly abandoned due to it being crap and the slack was only taken up lately by XP's "home edition".
Before XP, as both Windows-4 based vesions - 98 and ME - weren't deemed good enough even for home users, people would install 2000 on their home computers and as a result people think ME was released before 2000.
Perhaps reccommended windows software should be a seperate page, if everyone adds their favorites it will be a very large list.
- As with most things on this Wiki, I try to wait until there's a sufficient amount of something before sectioning it off. Otherwise, the wiki becomes fragmented with only little bits and peices of useful information, which is less efficient. Webfork
