Talk:Theory
From iA wiki
Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them.
For example, evolution is both a theory and an observed fact - it happens.
Challenging Theories
- how to determine the diffusion of information systems for non-specialist use.
- how computers can solve problems
- how to develop human intelligence for societies advancement
This is a pretty touchy subject. I'd say it's dangerous, but it's been discussed to satisfaction in a number of circles. Basically, theories are most definitely not fact.. they are best described as a form of opinion. Science would have theories evolve into mutually accepted opinions over time and experiment. -- rack
Oh, I pushed the "challenging theories" here, because they aren't theories, they are questions. Also, this topic needs to discuss the link between a theory, an opinion and a "law" (as in the law of gravity). -- rack
