Talk:Social engineering

From iA wiki

misc. comments all pushed over here:

I believe very strongly in a link between the topics of Social Engineering and Anti-Consumerism. I have more links, but a way of integrating them into iA isn't obvious to me at this time. -- rack

In a sense, conveying the subject of Social Engineering is like trying to explain "God", an item which defies direct explanation. It is best to discuss one's own feelings towards the topic, and the circumstances in which the topic becomes important.. as a means to convey the Idea of the topic. -- rack

Regarding social engineering, check out this link on Psycopathy and Consumerism. I tend to link the evils of consumerism with the evils of social engineering in general: ads, spam, and freedom topics. I am, however, quite broad in grouping topics together. =) The link discusses cool topics like nonrational thinking and the role of luxuries.. Meh, I don't think it's particularly stunning, but perhaps you can see my desire to link consumerism with social engineering. -- rack

Hmm.. another section entitled "Culture Jamming" might be cool.. add in all kinds of topics as Ethical Consumerism, Diet and bioengineering, etc.. Heck, this kind of stuff might go well with anti-ad or anti-spam topics, or security issues. --rack

While I agree this is important, I'm not sure it's within the scope of infoAnarchy. Our primary interest is the information society, that is, "intellectual property" and related issues as well as tools for managing and retrieving information. Also, aspects of communication: social engineering, propaganda etc. -- Erik
