I wonder if there ought to be discussion on wikis and the Google effect. Afterall, my own little wiki got itself googled very heartily and now I'm getting visitors all the time. This influences updates, as I direct attention to things which inspire me through popularity. -- Sy

Although your wiki is very cool and Google is very affecting, it is something that will probably be replaced. A bunch of companies - including Microsoft - are trying to create something better. Slashdot is an institution unto itself so the "slashdot effect" seems a little more catchy. However, I'll list it as an example. -- Webfork

Not to worry - it's crap and definitely not enough to offset Google but there is plenty of venture capitol suggesting there will be others. Webfork
