Are passwords security through obscurity? Noone ever brings this up, but strictly speaking i think it's the case. -- Amw
- Why do you say that? Because you don't tell anyone your password? I think that's just plain secrecy. Webfork
- Could be, but mostly not. Regarding TEMPEST, it would be. A common password, or low characters/basic characters one, would be as well. -- dpi
Many police stations and government institutions provide no connection with their computer systems to the Internet, preventing their computers from being accessable from outside an individual building or selected area. This debunks the myth that some day a nuclear facility could one day be hacked, told to the judge in the Kevin Mitnick case and featured in the movie "War Games."
What about the story about the power plant which ran on Windows and got hit by a Windows worm? Power plant... the worm... IS there a connection? -- dpi
- If you're a moron, then yes: you connect your power/police/nuke silo to the Internet. This actually brings up a good topic to create: Private Networks. Webfork
