Talk:Network

From iA wiki

"Note that 802.11-based Wireless networking often has a longer ping time than wired networks and are therefore not recommended for gamers."

Can I add the above statement in good conscience? This has been my experience but I don't want to think that the acceptance of NANs (which I think are the future) are going to be hindered by this. But fact is fact and I think I'm right on this one. Comments? Webfork

Must a network have always have users? What is it when programs automatically exchange data? - ABliss

1. No, a network does not need users. Take a Beowulf Cluster: it's often given a problem and then runs with it. They are on a network but there are no users.
2. An example that I can think of where programs automatically exchange data is in the case of ICMP. This is, of course, not always the case, especially in the case of a Firewall, at which point it becomes voluntary. Webfork
