Talk:Fraud

From iA wiki

If someone chooses to not give unwelcome advice while knowing that advice would help another is that fraud? Instead of just telling false information which is harmful, can fraud also be about keeping information hidden that would otherwise benefit another? - ABliss

First question: no, I think that's tact. Second question: no, I think that's just witholding evidence. Legally, its treated differently in terms of the 5th amendment against self-incrimination.

I saw this episode of Law & Order a while back where a guy had been arrested for possession of a gram of crystal meth. He said he was wearing his brother's jacket, and his brother testified that the drugs actually belonged to him. First guy gets off free but then they slap the brother with a felony. I always thought that testifying as a witness, even if to a certain extent you incriminated yourself, didn't count as a legal admission of guilt. I thought that was pretty interesting. -- Amw
I never watch those tv shows. I dont know how you can watch those american or even the locally produced crime dramas. What's good about them? - ABliss
Australian cop dramas are shockingly bad. Most of the American ones are too, but Law & Order is very well done. It's very gritty and fast-paced - i appreciate it more for the way in which it's filmed than the subject matter. To be honest cops and lawyers don't really interest me, but L&O is just a good TV show, independent of the subject matter. -- Amw
