Talk:DragonflyBSD

From iA wiki

The current description of DragonflyBSD doesn't say hell of a lot to me. What 'different' direction FreeBSD 5 goes? Can be so many things... Otoh the site doesn't either. I just don't get it. What way is FreeBSD 5 heading which the DragonflyBSD devvers don't agree with that they fork FreeBSD4 and continue with that? What's the problem?! -- dpi

From what i can gather, the theory is that FreeBSD is going to continue in the style of other UNIX-y operating systems, making the most of the machine and creating a great standalone server or desktop. DragonflyBSD, on the other hand, seems to be much more about clustering and distributed computing - maybe also grid computing - more in the vein of Plan9. -- Amw
