Actually it's very easy to differentiate between 10 different charges in electronics - 0V, 1V, 2V etc. The issue is not electronics, it's mathematics. We currently don't have any really good theories for how trinary or more complex logic should work. Using a simple binary on/off makes it very easy to build circuits that can do logical operations like AND, OR, NOT, XOR etc. -- Amw
- hmmm. i was told in my computer science classes that it was much more difficult to distinguish relative charges, but i think that was within a constrained range. makes sense that binary is better for logic, though. crtn
