Could fraud be considered an attack? Does anyone believe it could be unethical for a real hacker to make an attack as in to make changes to another computer? - ABliss

While fraud IS an aggressive attack meant to harm, I would say fraud in our example here is not an merely a goal. An attack like sifting through someone's trash is all that is necessary for you to need to shred any documents you throw away. The fact that they're trying to find information about them in order to use their name to get a loan is separate. The person could just as easily be with law enforcement trying to catch someone trying to defraud you. Either way, if your attack defences are strong, neither of them should have any information you didn't want them to have - that is: you define your boundaries.
Perhaps another example would be a castle wall in the middle ages: it helps deflect attacks, friend or foe, no matter if is Don Quixote or Henry VIII. Webfork
