Shareaza is an open source, P2P client. It implemented Mike's Protocol, which relies heavily upon UDP. Though this does have many advantages, it also has its downfalls, which many Gnutella proponents are quick to indicate. Shareaza continues to support the legacy Gnutella network, and supports:
- hash-links
- metadata (stored in XML files)
- ultra-peers
- THEX (TigerTree Hashing)
- partial file sharing
The newest version is Multi-Network, allowing for connection with the eDonkey2000 and BitTorrent protocols.
