Zeal is an enthusiastic devotion, be it to an ideal, a cause, goal or even a holy grail. Zeal implies tirelessness, vigilance and dilligence.

Zealotry is used to describe those who take zeal to a further extreme, beyond constructive activism. Zealots may often be seen as maintaining an extreme un-modifyable position on a dangerous topic. These zealots are often seen as being overenthusiastic to the point of disregarding logic, reasoning or the valid viewpoints of those around them. Sometimes they can be restrained with moderation.
