A characteristic of self-defining information distribution type systems such as the web and internet in general. Content which is self-constitutional defines its form by it own standards and may vary over time noticeably. The aims and goals of online communications are many and varied.

The potential message retrieved through the internet is related to the strength of its assertion and the strength of trust between the source and client. As peer-to-peer networks and wiki's grow they are self-constitutional.
