A shared collections of symbols based on alpha numeric textual writing systems, or the written form of language such as the alphabet or Scripting Languages, programming instruction and code, etc.

Usually, scripts activate a series of desired events, allowing the user to create a result without having an executable a program. This can be benefitial or security reasons and is common in UNIX systems by allowing already tested, established programs to perform operations instead of a developer starting from scratch.

Some professionals, like system admins are adept at writing scripts for many applications and for servers but are not considered developers.

Scripts in DOS are .BAT files, short for "batch," a group of things to accomplish.
