Acronym: Reduced Instruction Set Computer

A processor architecture technology which was invented in 1975 and became popular by the late 1980s. A RISC chip contains a microprocessor which understands only a few simple optimized instructions that it can process rapidly for an application. It has less complex instructions compared to the CISC type. RISC chip based computers ends up with larger binary files and are cheaper to design for and to produce.
