Pattern Recognition is the automatic recognition of reoccuring features. Pattern recognition can be used to analysis images and audio. Within dynamic patterns or seemingly random data there may be an underlying simplicity that can lead to information discovery through the use of large quantities of computer power.

Covert use of pattern recognition techniques can allow others to gather information for strategic purposes. This obviously raises privacy and security concerns.

Humans use their memory and intelligence to recognize patterns.
